At any one time, there is usually at least one 3 bed Ashton Cottage available. The cottage shown above is for illustrative purposes only and this particular cottage may actually be let. However, many of the cottages in the Village are similar: they were designed (it is believed) by the (then) fashionable Victorian/Edwardian architect William Huckvale for Charles Rothschild. Huckvale had a particular interest in the design of Estate Cottages and indeed designed such dwellings on a number of Rothschild Estates - for example at Tring (Hertfordshire). http://www.tring.gov.uk/info/history.htm
In our view, these "Edwardian" cottages, of thatch and stone, are of exceptional craftmanship and are also quite well suited to modern life. Amenities usually include central heating, safety systems, garden lighting, a separate Shepherds Hut (see photo Gallery etc), a large garden, furniture (if required), free fishing, the Right to Roam (see relevant section)over part of the Ashton Estate, ans so forth. Rents vary (by quite a lot) but a typical 3 bed Ashton Village house is about 750 pounds/month and a 4 bed Ashton Wold house is about 1,300 pounds/month.
Security Systems: Fire Alarms and Burglar Alarms.
Security is one of the most important features of a rental property. Many properties are fitted with basic security systems, such as fire alarms, and intruder alarms linked to autodiallers. It is possible, should tenants so desire, to fit more sophisticated systems in particular webcams, that can be accessed via the internet from a computer (wheresoever located). Both the interior and the exterior of the house can be monitored. Security lighting and CCTV systems (and dummy CCTV cameras) can also be installed, as can a variety of other security systems.
